James

I was raised on James Taylor music. I LOVE HIM. He just makes me feel like I'm seven again sitting in the family room while my dad sings along at the top of his lungs. (My dad has a rockin' voice. It sounds just like James Taylor.) Here's one of my very favorite songs. It's called Mean Old Man. I feel like everyone has one or two people who have changed them from a "Mean Old Man" to a "Golden Retriever Puppy Dog". I'm grateful for those people today.

Anyways, Here are the lyrics. Did I mention, James Taylor is also an amazing poet! Enjoy.

On my own
How could I have known?
Imagine my surprise
Just a fool
From a tree full of fools
Who can't believe his eyes
Imagine my surprise

I was a mean old man
I was an ornery cuss
I was a dismal dan
I made an awful fuss
Ever since my life began
Man, it was ever thus
I was a nasty tyke who was hard to like

I had to misbehave
I did things in reverse
Refused to wash or shave
I was horrid to my nurse
I got back what I gave
Which only made me worse
I had to have my way
Which was bleak and gray, oh dear

Living in here
One hundred years of rain
Such a drag
This riches to rags
With just myself to blame
A dirty low-down shame

Silly me
Silly old me
Somewhere outside my mind
Clever you
Walking me through
Willing to lead the blind
Just in the nick of time

Who gets a second chance?
Who gets to have some fun?
Who gets to learn to dance
Before his race is run?
Who gets to she'd his skin?
Who comes up born again?
Who was a mean old man
'til you turned him into a golden retriever
Puppy dog
Who's a good boy?

Before Meets After

One of my summer goals was to re-do my bedroom lamps! Well. I'm finally posting pictures!
Ta Da!
What do you think?

BEFORE

AFTER

Sorry that I don't have a before picture of the lamps in my room. I'll just say that they looked like a hot mess in there.

Deer Valley Getaway!

After my eventful Thursday night at the Lion King, Chad and I met up with the family at my Uncle's Cabin in Deer Valley for the weekend. It was a much needed retreat and so nice to be up in the beautiful mountains with my family. The leaves were all changing colors and it was breath-taking. Not to mention, the Bocci Ball tourney was amazing. :)

My mom is the best cook in the world. We had chicken peanut sautee, Roast, sandwiches and and plethora of other deliciousness.

Reb got to catch up on her reading and finished the final Hunger Games book, Mockingjay.

Seth got to take it easy in the hot tub. Lock up your daughters!

Ella strikes a pose after her fresh mani/pedi.

I gave myself a pedicure after a long day of outlet shopping with my Mom. One of my favorite hobbies. Mom and I are discount divas and brought home a lot of cute things for a fraction of the cost. Go team!
Please ignore my horrible hair, my hair appointment was the next week.

Chad got a lot of catch-up sleep as well as a trip to the driving range with my dad.
On Sunday Chad and I took a nature walk. It was a gorgeous day and we were very happy to be up there. Can I just say? What a Hottie McHotterson.

It was such a great weekend. THANKS SO MUCH to Mom and Dad for making it possible, keeping us fed with delicious food, and going out of their way for us to have a fun time! We love you!

The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

A couple Wednesday nights ago I got home from work, excited about the fun weekend ahead and noticed that my mom had called and invited me to go see The Lion King in SLC the next night. They had an extra ticket! Boy did I luck out!

First we were treated to Olive Garden courtesy Kyle Rollins! Thanks Dad, it was delicious.

Ella was very excited to see the play. So excited in fact, that she couldn't eat her food. When our waitress told her that she had to eat now because all the lions would have eaten all the food at the play Ella just looked away and laughed saying, "Doesn't she know? My mom ALWAYS has fruit snacks."

The whole crew: Grandma, Reb, Dad, Mom, Me and last but not least, Ella! She was very excited to go to this "big girl" event.

One excited little skibby!

The play was FANTASTIC! I recommend it to anyone who can get tickets. It was beautiful and the costumes were seriously magical. I have to admit, I did shed a tear or two. They did a wonderful job. Ella did her "chirping" giggle the whole time and was happy to be there the whole time, despite getting out a couple hours past her bedtime! :)
THANKS MOM, DAD, AND GRANDMA for the fantastic night.
